I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Art Therapist. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Art Therapy from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville in 2005.

My practice includes individual therapy as well as couple's therapy. I have a special interest in providing support to people diagnosed with cancer. The goals of therapy are to reduce stress, increase the quality of life, provide instillation of hope, and cope with life transitions.

I am  trained in Divorce Mediation. Divorce mediation is a process in which divorcing spouses negotiate an acceptable divorce agreement with the help of a neutral third party: the mediator. The mediator supports the spouses with  healthy communication and negotiation but doesn't make any decisions for them.

My training, education, and 17 years of experience have provided a strong background to provide private counseling services. I specialize in therapy for people with chronic illness, depression, and anxiety. I offer a supportive and caring environment to teach healthy coping skills, increase self-esteem, and promote a sense of self. Information, resources, support with healthy communication and conflict resolution skills, anger management, mindfulness and relaxation techniques  are offered in session.

I have a positive psychology approach that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy and Art Therapy to support making progress in one's life and meeting personal goals. My career has included working with adults and adolescents with addictions, working in hospital settings including Barnes Jewish Hospital and St. Elizabeth's Hospital, both in-patient and out-patient with adults with chronic mental illness and medical illness, providing education and support to families of loved ones with addiction and mental illness, working within multiple local community mental health organizations to support individuals with mental illness and several years in private practice. I began my career managing a residential facility in Michigan with adults and adolescents whom have physical and developmental disabilities. I have also volunteered to facilitate oncology support groups and art therapy for women and children.

I am passionate about my family and son. I love the outdoors, hiking, running, DIY projects and playing in my garden. I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and feels that defines my sense of self and love of nature's beauty. I look forward to meeting and learning all about you.
